Ziggezagge Ziggezagge RBC!!

Woot! Woot! RBC did it again! Not a single "home" match lost since I started working there! Let's keep it that way, please! Pretty good for our working spirit hehe! RBC still leading the Jupiler League! =) It was a nice match against Dordrecht despite some questionable calls from the arbiter, of which Robert M. did not approve AT ALL. In his press conference he didn't hesitate to mention it BIG TIME. Ha! Good on him!

Furthermore it was a night with a lot of things going wrong, or just not as planned... To start with there were a LOT of sick people, me included, actually almost everyone included hehe. I wasn't really in the mood for working, but since almost everyone was feeling quite miserable, we made the best of it and we ended up having lots of fun and feeling much better! Well, we literally sweated all our illness out of our system hehe. My god, so many people that night! It's been the most busy night so far! I was lucky (I thought) to be "stationed" in the ConfettiLounge that night, which is somewhat smaller and more quite than the main lounge but then the icing machine got stuck. We ran out of glasses. We got no supply of draft beer. People went CRAZY!! My oh my, they began to get hostile! No kidding! Just at the right time I was asked to assist in the "Players' Home" and I went down as fast as I could hehe. The RBC players left relatively early and when we kicked out their friends and family as well and (after A LOT of intensive cleaning-what a mess!) headed back upstairs, people had calmed down finally. Pheew! After setting up business units 6/7, cleaning bars, kitchens & restaurant, a good beer and some hot fried snacks!! we called it a day at 4.30am to be back at the stadium again at 9am. Yay what a lovely weekend ;) That morning we all looked like zombies hehe. When the kids walked in (it was a "Sinterklaas" celebration for children) we thought we were about to die! Screaming, crying, running... of course a lot of broken glasses, fighting children, blood and bruises, and more screaming and crying... It was fun. Afterwards, we were exhausted. We did some cleaning and that was it. We did not even set up the lounge for monday!! We just left hehe. :P The end of a pretty hectic week. Besides some "regular" presentations and receptions (and the *#%@$ monday bridge-club ofcourse) something special this week was the "Business Culinair" night last wednesday. A lot of delicious haute cuisine snacks and good wines presented by various companies. Many overdressed people. All RBC players present. Robert Maaskant singing (!) with the band. Too many drunk people. Hostile and unreasonable. No kidding, Maurits had to hide from them! Now THAT is just too weird! Monday night we will deal with unreasonable people again. As EVERY monday night... My my my ...how low can one go?! This monday I will be working with Natasja who gets more easily upset by them than William. So that can be a pretty entertaining night again ;)

BSUR

Tonight I managed to get off from work to visit a show ("BSUR"/"Be as you are") of the dutch comedian Jan Jaap van der Wal. Inspired by a trip through six developing countries in order to make a tv-documentary for the Liliane Fonds ( for which he refused to receive any money- unlike many outrageous well-paid dutch celebrities!!), this show was among its results. Hard humour, sincere indignation, cynicism, and a healthy ability to relativise. It was a good, honest show!! And, I know some of you will like this for sure, Jan Jaap "attacked" Marco Borsato's "fake-ness" BIG TIME, opposing it to the "pure-ness" of REM's Michael Stipe...

It was a lovely night out! Maurits wasn't too happy with me not working hehe (he called about a 15 mins before I left if I wouldn't consider working after all that night, but hey, I didn't ask a night off FOR NO REASON huh?!? so pity him HA!...) I finally got a chance to meet Maaike's boyfriend Thijs, who turned out to be a very nice guy (although I didn't DARE to question that, Maaike!!). So good on you, girl!! Looking forward to meeting you again hopefully some time soon!! =)

Yay! I'm so happy happy HAPPY!! =) I just received a letter that I'm selected for the job interview at the University Medical Center in Rotterdam on december 4th! Yeah, I KNOW I'm not the only one, but just so happy I'm through the first selection! I'm still IN!! WOOHOO! So happy, did I already tell you I'm happy?!

Just had to repost this from RF.com. Roger just won TMC!! What a surprise! NOT!!! =) Wow, we're so proud! It's been a fantastic season! Now I won't bore you to death with tennis stuff till January 2007 hehe.

Roger has rounded off his terrific year, dominating the men’s tennis circuit to win the Tennis Masters Cup. He overwhelmed James Blake, claiming his third title 6-0, 6-3, 6-4 in today's championship match. Roger wrapped it all up in just 1 hour and 37 minutes. "It's quite incredible to finish off by winning the Masters Cup, the world championship so to speak," Roger said. "It's obviously a perfect end to an incredible season. I had to laugh at one stage I was playing so well, everything I tried today worked." Blake quickly discovered that the all-or-nothing approach that worked earlier in the tournament did not unsettle Roger, who had progressed to the final with a straight sets semifinal win over his 2006 nemesis, Nadal. It took Blake a full 34 minutes to get on the scoreboard, finally holding serve in the second game of the second set — and even then he had to save two breakpoints. By the third set, even Blake was applauding some of Roger’s winners. "There's nothing I could have done, he was too good," said Blake. "I've run out of adjectives to describe him on court. Just more evidence that he's the best of all time." The victory was Roger’s 29th consecutive win, improving him to 92-5 for the year and to 22-2 at the Masters Cup. His only Masters Cup loss since the start of the 2003 tournament was in last year's final.

More work!

This week I started to work at Franciscus Hospital as well. So far the combining with the RBC-job goes all well. But I do need Red Bull hehe. Not that much time for posting long logs here lately, sorry! I'll try to catch up with my mail later this weekend! I suck at it... I know...

TMC Shanghai

Pretty excited since the Tennis Masters Cup started today. ATP's top 8 playing a round robin system, always very interesting! And it started quite well with a nice victory over Nalby hehe. PAYBACK time! =) People seem to forget Roger started TMC on crutches last year!! Both Nalby and Rafa are not in good shape in my opinion, but on the other hand Davydenko is doing surprisingly great lately. So focus, Rogi!

Kim & John in Holland!

Today we got to meet Kim and John, who came over from Houston, TX to Amsterdam for business. It was very nice to meet them! We'd never met John before, but I think they are a great couple together! I hope they'll have a safe flight home tomorrow with some good lasting memories of us hehe. Take care guys, hope meeting you again (in Texas??) some day! =)

First paycheck! =)

Sooo tired! It's been such a rough week! Normally we only have a soccer match once every 14 days, but this week we've had two of them in the same week; both for the Jupiler League and the KNVB Cup! That means twice a 13-14 hours' shift this week besides the "normal" working days. But it's been fun, I find my way around much better know, and get to know my colleagues as well, among which I've met some pretty cool and cute! ones now hehe. RBC Roosendaal won twice this week, so it was a great party last night. We really had to kick out the party-animals from the Business Units, boy, they can be a real pain in the ass sometimes, especially when they're drunk... When they were finally gone, the physical hard part of work started; setting up the rooms for the next day, which takes about 2-3 hours time and when it's 2 AM and you're tired that is NO FUN! But hey, we all were tired so you gotta make the best of it, right? Well it's been a good week at work and today I received my very first paycheck which made me a very very happy person! =)

Wok on the wild side...

YummY! Had the pleasure to enjoy a great meal at the "Wok" with Maaike. It was so good to finally meet her again, I had not seen her since...felt like forever!! We should definitely do such things more often hehe. The funny thing is we both do the same kind of job at the moment. Isn't that a coincidence or WHAT?!

EMC update

Today I had my tour through the radiation department of the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam. I liked it soo much! The presentations were very interesting and the people who worked there (aahhh such a handsome (=yummy!) young lecturer hehe) as well as the potential students were all very nice. I felt at home immediately! I really think this is the study I want to do! The Center was quite easy to reach, it took me only 90 mins to get there, so that's acceptable to me. Just a MINOR setback is the fact that they'll only need 6 - I repeat SIX!!- students this year, so to get through the selection will be very hard. This week I'll have to write a motivation letter, a very good one please!! Tips & tricks are very welcome hehe. Wish me luck! =)

Museum N8 Amsterdam!

Today (saturday) was a rough day at work. It was actually my day off but I was asked the night before if I could jump in because they were expecting "chaos"! And chaos it was... Bleeh. I wasn't feeling like working on saturdaynight cause that would mean skipping two birthday parties as well. I thought about maybe going after my shift, but decided not to, since I wasn't sure at what time I could leave work, and besides I didn't buy any birthdaypresents yet hehe. So I put that thought out of my mind very quickly.

But then I was off at a quite reasonable time and still felt like doing something FUN! When I called Arnaud it seemed that he and Marc were still in Roosendaal and about to leave for Amsterdam, so I could still join them to visit Amsterdam's Museumnacht. I left my bike at RBC and they picked me up there. No time for changing clothes cause we were pretty late! The musea closed mostly at 2am so we had to hurry a bit. But since Arnaud was driving (hehe) it took us only an hour to get to Frank's place. And luckily Frank had already bought our tickets! So off we went... cruising across the city of Amsterdam on bikes! Ahh I am bruised on my upper legs!! We went quite high speed over bumps and dips and ohh what more?! The carrier of the bike is not a particular SOFT place to sit on... But it was a nice way of transportation through the city, you could see a lot of the city, and it was relatively quick since you wouldn't have to wait for canalboats or buses.

So, it was a good choice. Too bad many musea closed even before their scheduled closing time and because of that we missed the Anne Frank house. But it was a great night anyway. After a few beers and a meal we headed back to Roosendaal, where my bed welcomed me at 6am. =)
